There are different blog platforms that are available nowadays in the internet. There are only two types of blog platforms: the hosted and the non-hosted platform. When choosing the blog platform that you will use, you have to choose wisely on what is most appropriate for your blog or else your blog will suffer. If you are undecided yet on what you are going to choose, you would want to read this article to make to you decide on what to choose.
In choosing a blog platform, you have to decide on whether to choose a hosted or a non-hosted platform. A hosted platform is the one with the platform server in it while the non-hosted platform is the one that has your own server. If you don’t want to spend so money just for the sake of blogging, then go for the hosted platform.
Examples of these are the Blogger or also known as Blogspot, and TypePad. The blogger is just for free while the price of hosting in TypePad depends upon the needs of your blog. The main advantage of hosted platform is it is easy to start a blog in there. It is also user- friendly. You can know all by yourself on where to click to do certain tasks that you want. But, there are also drawbacks when you choose this. You can’t customize your blog the way you want it because you can’t change much of the HTML or CSS in your blog. Platforms like Blogger appear to be less professional but there are several blogs which are successful that are hosted by Blogger.
Non-hosted platforms through WordPress.org or movable Type for example, offer a wide range of advantages. First, you can customize your blog the way you want it. With this type of platform, you can design your blog just the way you want it. You can also manage the links to your own posts. With this platform, you can control the way you manage your archives.
You can also manage your advertising and you can also respond more quickly in the comments. This is very different in hosted blog platforms because there are no advertisements or any links that can take the readers away from your site. But on the down side of this platform, you should have a lot of knowledge on HTML, CSS and PHP in order to make your own templates.
With the two options that you can choose from, you can pick between the two on what best suits the blog that you are going to build. After you finished reading this, you now know what blog platforms you are going to choose that is the best for you blog.
